Marine electrical work, engineered to be the last repair you ever need.
Coastal Current is a mobile marine electrician serving the North Carolina coast. ABYC-standard diagnostics, off-grid power systems, and code-compliant wiring, done dockside at your slip, dry stack, or boatyard, so the boat stays in the water while the work gets done.
Electrical problems don't stay small.
A battery bank that won't hold a charge overnight. A chartplotter that drops its network connection at the worst moment. A shore-power cord that runs warm to the touch. None of these start as emergencies. Most trace back to something wired years earlier by a previous owner, a boatyard working quickly, or a well-intentioned DIY repair, and they get worse quietly until the day they don't.
Most electrical failures were installed, not discovered.
Coastal Current diagnoses the actual fault instead of swapping parts until something happens to work: testing circuits under load, tracing problems back to their source, and building or repairing systems to the ABYC standards a surveyor, insurer, or the next owner will eventually check against.

Specialist focus
Off-grid power isn't an add-on. It's the discipline we built this shop around.
Modern LiFePO4 battery banks, high-output alternators, solar and wind generation, and smart charging change what a boat can do away from shore power. Done right, the payoff is longer time at anchor, less generator dependence, and a power system that shows you its actual state instead of hiding it behind a single battery gauge.

Why Coastal Current
ABYC Certified
Work is performed by an ABYC Certified Technician, to applicable American Boat & Yacht Council standards, the same standards a surveyor or insurer will be checking your system against.
Veteran-Owned & Operated
A disciplined, methodical approach to every job: test before you touch, document what you find, verify before the panel goes back on.
Fully Mobile
Service comes to your slip, dry stack, marina, or boatyard. Your vessel doesn't need to move for its electrical system to get fixed.
North Carolina coast
Dockside service from the Cape Fear River to the Outer Banks.
Coastal Current services vessels throughout the North Carolina coast (at marina slips, private docks, dry stacks, boatyards, and shipyards) and travels beyond the towns listed here for the right project.
